What’s in a logo? There’s usually more than meets the eye:) Donais Studios is no exception.
I’m often asked, “why black and white?”
Well, quite simply, I love black and white. I find it classy. In fact my wedding was black and white.
But on a deeper level, the black and white in the Donais Studios logo signifies transformation: inspiration, growth, evolution.
When you come to work with us at Donais Studios, you can expect transformation if you are willing to invest the time, effort, and heart required.
The performing arts provide a powerful pathway for individuals of any age or level of experience to encounter transformation.
How do we do this at Donais Studios?
Through COMMITMENT, CONVICTION, and CONNECTION.
Commitment
Embrace your artistic journey as a commitment – to yourself, to your community, and to your art. Believe in your worth, invest in your potential, and know that we believe in you too!
Conviction
Approach your art with unwavering conviction. Recognize it as a gift meant to be shared within a supportive community. We are here to provide guidance, encouragement, and the occasional dose of tough love as you navigate your artistic path and growth.
Connection
Music transcends barriers, serving as a universal language that brings us together in profound ways. Use your art to forge connections, to evoke emotion, and to inspire change. Music is a powerful tool for fostering meaningful connections with others.
If you look at the Donais Studios symbol, it is a one stroke drawing that is interconnected.
There is symmetry in the connectedness. The Donais Studios symbol represents our connection to one another AND our non-linear path as artists. Inspiration, growth, and evolution are never linear. Embrace the ebb and flow. The joy and the frustration. The breakthroughs and the regression. It is all part of the process. It’s part of being human and we honour it here.
In this photo there are 3 generations of choir girls:) The shared memories, experiences, and moments of transformation between the four of us is quite special.
I first met Lian when I was 18. I got my first conducting job as a children’s choir conductor, and Lian was a member of the choir. Fast forward several years. Lian completed her university degree, I was making a career change from classroom music teacher to full-time conductor, and we were both hired by the same children’s choir where we met to be co-teachers and conductors.
A few years down the road, Eli and Arianna became members of the choir, and Lian and I had the privilege of being their conductors. Oh the stories we could tell! There were several overnight retreats, choir tours both national and international, recording sessions, concerts, summer camps, and countless rehearsals. We shared so much together over the years as colleagues, mentors, fellow musicians, and friends. The choir experience is truly like no other. We are so grateful for the memories and growth that we share. These years transformed each of us in unique and beautiful ways.
I am truly honoured that these three ladies choose to spend their Monday evenings sharing their love and deep belief in the power of choral music and the choir experience with our RISE singers.
So, Andrea, what is this transformation I can expect to see?
Well, that’s up to you:) Transformation is a choice AND looks different for everyone. It can be small incremental changes over time, or it can be a big breakthrough moment. The choice is yours if you are willing to invest in yourself and your goals.
Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some transformation stories from our current and past students so you can see for yourself the transformative power of the arts. Don’t just take my word for it!
See how inspiration, growth, and evolution through the performing arts can impact your, and/or your child’s, life for the better.
It’s powerful!
Keep singing,
~Andrea “choosing transformation” Donais
