I’m sure this has happened to you—you’re scrolling through Instagram or Facebook and come across a meme, mantra, or quote that really resonates. You think, “I need to remember that.”
But the thing is…I never remember them. Or I get the gist but not the exact wording, and then I end up wasting way too much time on the internet trying to find it again.
Or maybe you’ve read a personal or professional development book, and you find a quote you love. You highlight it, feel inspired, and then… the book gets closed, and it’s out of sight, out of mind.
So, for 2025, I decided to try something different. I chose five mantras to focus on for the entire year. I wrote them in my day planner and posted them on the wall in my office so I can see them every single day.
And since we’re at the halfway point of the year, I thought it was a good time for a little check-in—and to share them with you.
“Exhaust the body, tame the mind.” – Dan Martell
This one’s so good. When I exercise regularly, my mind feels clearer and my nervous system stays much calmer. Everything runs more smoothly, and the things that might normally feel like a big deal (but usually aren’t) are easier to manage. I’m way more productive, creative, and focused.
How’s it going? The year started strong, and I really felt the benefits—but my workout and yoga routine took a bit of a nosedive in May and June as our season wrapped up. I’m looking forward to getting back on track this month! 💪
“Your mind is your most valuable asset. Feed it wisely.” – Unknown
Each morning, I read 5–10 pages of a personal or professional development book to start my day. It feels so much better than grabbing my phone. I’ve finished five books since January, so I think I’m doing okay in this department. 😉
My favourite so far is The Practicing Mind by Thomas M. Sterner.
“Manage your energy, not your time.” – Tony Schwartz & Jim Loehr
This one has been on my mind a lot these past six months. I’ve been paying attention to what activities energize me and what drains me. I wouldn’t say I’ve mastered it yet—but awareness is the first step, right?
One thing I know for sure: singing and teaching light me up! 💫
“Structure is freedom.” – Megan Sumrell
Megan Sumrell is a time management and planning expert, and her work is gold. I’ve added some new structures and routines to both my life and business this year, and I have to agree—there’s real freedom in it. Even though it feels counterintuitive!
I’m an adventurous spirit and wanderlust is my love language, but having clear systems in place has brought so much clarity and simplicity to my life and work. And the most surprising part? It’s actually helping my creativity soar. Who would have thought?
“Simplify to amplify.” – Marie Forleo
Simplifying brings so much more intention—and ease—to both life and work. We’ve been purging our home over the past month, clearing out the clutter and making space for what really matters. It already feels lighter, and we’re breathing easier this summer.
At Donais Studios, we’ve been simplifying too. This year, we’re focused solely on voice education. Being really clear about who we serve and how we serve makes a huge difference—it’s helping us amplify our impact and, more importantly, helping our students amplify their voices both on stage and in life. 🤍
I’ve really enjoyed having these five mantras as my focus for the year. I’m definitely a work in progress, but six months in, they still feel like exactly the right fit for where I am in life right now.
Do you have any mantras that guide or fuel you? I’d love to hear them—just hit reply and share!
Keep singing,
~Andrea “Fueled by Mantras & Music” Donais
